The GLD is the government’s principal legal advisers. Their core purpose is to help the government to govern well, within the rule of law.
The GLD is a non-ministerial department led by Susanna McGibbon, HM Procurator General, Treasury Solicitor and Head of the Government Legal Profession for the Labour Government.
